About Us

What We Do

Founded by pioneering Haitian health professionals in 1982, GHESKIO (the French acronym for the Haitian Group for the Study of Kaposi Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infections) operates medical treatment and research centers in Port-au-Prince, plus a network of clinics around the Port-au-Prince, metropolitan area.

We deliver critical healthcare services, as well as social and economic support, to low-income Haitians who face a myriad of challenges.

Who We Are

GHESKIO, the French acronym for Haitian Study Group on Kaposi Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infections, is a Haitian non-governmental organization created before AIDS had a name.

GHESKIO is recognized as a public utility by the Haitian government, meaning it is deemed essential to the welfare of the Haitian people. GHESKIO is dedicated to improving health care through clinical care, research, and training and is one of the largest providers of HIV and tuberculosis (TB) care in the Americas and a world leader in conducting HIV-associated clinical research, participating in multiple network studies funded by the NIH.
