June 25, 2026

Dr. Mireille Peck from GHESKIO was awarded the 2026 AIDS Clinical Trials Group’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) Award today in Washington DC.

Dr. Mireille Peck played a pivotal role in establishing the GHESKIO Community Advisory Board as a trusted bridge between researchers and the community. Her outreach was especially impactful among sex workers and gay and transgender communities, who face severe discrimination and vulnerability.

Dr. Pecks’ commitment never wavered despite profound personal adversity, including surviving a kidnapping.

Dr. Peck is a strong leader, passionate and dedicated to engaging community participation and has been a pillar at GHESKIO”

Dr. Mithing Jean

Dr Mireille Peck who heads the GHESKIO Community Unit is one the most humane and caring physicians I know. She was kidnapped two years ago on her way to work having to walk many kilometers at gunpoint late at night. Fortunately she was released unharmed. She remained even more determined to provide care and support to the most underpriviledged.

Dr. Peck, we are grateful for your strength and commitment to GHESKIO. Thank you and congratulations!
