Over the past five years, Haiti has endured escalating violence, political instability, and economic disruption. More than 1.5 million people have been displaced from their homes, more than half of them women and children. For countless families, the loss of safety has also meant the loss of income, opportunity, and economic security.
Women have been disproportionately affected. Many have been forced to flee their homes, abandon small businesses, leave jobs behind, or assume responsibility for supporting their families under increasingly difficult circumstances. For those living in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and vulnerable communities, rebuilding a stable future can seem out of reach.
GHESKIO is working to change that.
Building on decades of experience supporting vulnerable populations, GHESKIO is expanding its vocational training and economic empowerment programs to create opportunities for thousands of women to develop marketable skills, secure employment, launch small businesses, and regain financial independence. Through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, microcredit opportunities, and workforce development initiatives, women are gaining the tools needed to rebuild their lives and support their families.
This work is about more than jobs. It is about restoring dignity, creating stability, and helping women reclaim control over their futures. When women have the opportunity to earn an income, families are stronger, children are more likely to remain in school, and communities become more resilient.
The need is urgent, but so is the opportunity. With continued support, GHESKIO can help thousands of women affected by violence and displacement move beyond survival and toward economic recovery and self-reliance.
Together, we can help build a future where women are not defined by the crises they have endured, but by the opportunities they are able to create.
