Haiti’s 2010 cholera outbreak was the worst the world has suffered this century. However, thanks to much dedication, Haiti has not experienced a single case of cholera in three years.

Haiti’s Ministry of Health (MOH) led a plan that evolved with the epidemic, coordinating support from national and international partners.

GHESKIO played a key role throughout the effort. The GHESKIO team, under the leadership of Dr. Jean Pape, teamed with the MOH to provide training, research and treatment protocols that were scaled up nationally. Key GHESKIO participants included Dr. Marie-Marcelles Deschamps, Dr. Bernard Liautaud, Dr. Vanessa Rouzier, Dr. Karine Severe, and a host of other GHEKSIO staff.
